The project is located in Wangcheng District, Changsha City, Hunan Province, the intersection of Changyi-Chang High Speed Railway and Changgan High Speed Railway, and is an important node station of Xiamen-Chongqing Corridor, one of the main corridors of China's "eight vertical and eight horizontal" high speed railroad network.As a regional comprehensive transportation hub, Changsha West Station is closely connected with the subway and public transportation, and after the opening of the operation, it can realize "one line transfer" between Changsha South Station, Changsha Station and Changsha West Station, and the seamless connection of various modes of transportation.

The steel material of this project is of the highest grade Q390GJC, with high welding difficulty; the thickest steel plate is 60mm, with high quality requirements for cutting and welding of thick plates; the roof is a large-span pipe truss structure, with dimensions of 370x299m, a maximum span of 72m, and the maximum weight of a single joist is 80t.

The design concept of the station building is "Three Hunan, Four Waters, Azalea Blossom", the upper part of the four elevations of the building is a canopy structure, shaping the shape of water waves, the shape of the station building is a cross-shaped structure, the elevation modeling has been rounded, the facade is gradually tilted to unfold from the bottom to the top, which is like a flower with staggered petals from afar."It looks like an azalea with staggered petals from afar, highlighting the regional characteristics of Changsha.
